One of the biggest challenges when designing the outfit builder for LeMieux was ensuring it was both intuitive and accessible across multiple devices. The builder needed to be easy to use and operate for users of all skill levels, while also providing a seamless experience whether they were browsing on desktop or mobile. Additionally, as the builder would be translated into multiple languages, I had to work to include less text and rely more heavily on iconography to keep the design clean and easy to understand.
Through careful planning and collaboration with the client, we were able to create a tool that not only met these challenges but also helped to increase conversions and provide a more engaging experience for customers.
Through careful collaboration with the LeMieux team and conducting extensive competitor research, I was able to gain a deep understanding of the equestrian industry and their customers. This helped me to create an outfit builder that was tailored specifically to the needs of LeMieux's audience. We worked together to define the user journey, identify potential pain points and find the best solutions to address them. By putting the user at the forefront of the design process, we were able to ensure that the final product provided a great user experience and was intuitive to use.
Wireframes were essential for this project, as they helped us to get the flow of the outfit builder correct. By creating wireframes, we were able to experiment with different layout options, and iterate quickly to find the best solution for the user. It allowed us to map out the user journey, from selecting the horse, to choosing the products.
This process was particularly important as it allowed us to catch any usability issues early on, before we moved onto the more detailed design work.
In addition to designing the outfit builder for clothing and equipment, I repurposed it to work for selecting accessories for LeMieux's toy horses. This allowed customers to mix and match accessories for their toy horses, creating a personalized and unique experience. Repurposing the outfit builder not only saved time and resources but also ensured consistency across LeMieux's website.
